SLOW FASHION. INSPIRED BY NATURE.
Florawear is a proud slow fashion brand with a desire to ensure that the clothes we put on our bodies are safe, clean, and made from natural means. The fashion industry is notorious for waste and its negative impact on the environment, and we’re proud to play a role in reversing the trend.
Florawear’s botanically dyed clothes are hand-dyed on Martha’s Vineyard by Blossom. Each garment is dyed using roots, berries, leaves, bugs, lichen, flowers, bark, wood, or minerals. A combination of bundle dyeing and dip dyeing is used to give each item a beautiful pattern using the least amount of water possible. Her approach to dyeing involves finding the beauty in what’s in season or available that feels like the most sustainable option. Blossom has a dye garden where she grows her own dye materials, forages for dye materials, supports pigment farmers, and up-cycles waste from her local community, turning it all into sustainable, non-toxic dye.

FABRICS
Florawear’s clothes are created in small batches, using organic natural fibers, dead-stock fabrics, up-cycled materials, or handmade artisan fabrics. Organic cottons are sourced from mills that exclusively employ organic and sustainable practices. Dead-stock fabrics are obtained based on availability and used in our designs until completely utilized. This practice aids in reducing fabric waste and ensures minimal leftover material. Dresses crafted from up-cycled sarees are unique, each preserving a remarkable piece of fabric, granting it a renewed purpose. We collaborate with and support artisans who specialize in crafting fabrics using traditional techniques, thereby contributing to the preservation of their sustainable craftsmanship.
We stand by timeless designs crafted with care. Our commitment revolves around people, planet, and profit. Everyone along our supply chain receives fair wages and utmost respect and kindness. Each product is released only when completed, without rigid production deadlines. This approach lets everyone involved work comfortably, ensuring each item gets the attention and detail it deserves.

Indigo is beautiful, but it needs to be treated with care and love. It may lose color in the first few washes, but worry not; by following a few simple steps, you will be able to enjoy this fabulous garment for a long time.
1/ Wash your indigo-dyed garments in cold water, separately from other items, using a mild detergent. Some dresses will no longer bleed after the first wash, but some items might need 3-4 washes before they no longer bleed.
2/ If you are concerned about bleeding, wash your dress 3 times before wearing.
3/ Do not soak the garment for a long time, and do not rub it.
4/ FYI: You may notice blue running out into the water - this is normal and will stop after a few washes.
5/ We recommend hang drying and avoiding direct sunlight, as this can cause excessive fading. Indigo garments fade over time; it is characteristic of the color and only adds to its charm.

We source fabrics from all over the world. Most fabrics are handmade.
Please note that shrinkage may occur if you dry your garment on medium-high heat. If you would like to avoid shrinkage, air dry your garment; this is better for your clothing and the planet!

If a stain occurs, dilute a small amount of detergent with warm water. From there, you can soak the garment for at least two hours or overnight. Then, gently rub the stain, hand wash, and place it in your machine on the gentle cycle. To dry, hang or lie flat.

Please note that some botanically dyed dresses have wrinkles from the dyeing process. Sometimes they don't come out for a while, but they will over time.
If your silk dress has wrinkles, you can do the following:
For subtle wrinkles, turn it inside out and iron on a steam setting. Hang to dry if needed.
For stubborn wrinkles, soak it in warm water for 30 minutes. Hang to dry until damp and then iron it inside out. This should get out most wrinkles.
